WHO IS CHIP CHIRIMBES?
Chip Chirimbes has been a professional sports handicapper since 1978 when he left
teaching and started The A-Play, the highly successful sports handicapping service that
he still heads today. Chip won the Las Vegas Hilton March Mania NCAA Championship
contest in 2000 and has placed among the leaders 10 times in professional sports
handicapping contests and he placed third in the famous Gamblers Challenge and he had
a fifth place finish in the Las Vegas Hiltons 'The Contest.'
Paul 'Chip' Chirimbes appeared 'live' weekly for CNN/SI for six years 1995-2001 as Las
Vegas' expert voice for weekend events where he handled viewer questions and gave his
analysis. In 1978 Chip created a first of its kind 'live' sports handicapping television
show, The A-Play Sports Handicapping Show out of New York City, where the viewers
could 'call-in' and interact with Chip and his guest handicappers.
Chip an NYU graduate with a Master Degree was educated at the University of Kyoto in
Japan and Copenhagen University in Denmark. A high school teacher, he was a baseball
and football coach as well as a certified NCAA Basketball official.
Always a winner, as an athlete Chip played on two National Championship baseball
teams.
